I've spent the last two years in prison relaying stories to a blogger about my crimes, arrests, and life in four Florida prisons, the Pinellas County Jail, juvenile detention and drug rehab. I'm sending a message to others not to make the same mistakes I did.

FL's youthful offender prisons: The KKK, starvation and abuse?

Ted wrote me that he thought he would be transferred to Lake City or Lancaster. Both happen to be camps for Youthful Offenders and both are in North Florida.

Ted wasn’t sentenced as a Youthful Offender. He was sentenced as an adult.

When I called the CFRC to find out why he was in with YOs, they told me it was because of his age and size – not for any other reason. (Ted is 5'11" and was 119 lbs. about four weeks ago, even though the DOC site says he's 5'8".)

Lancaster supposedly has better food, but Lake City has air-conditioning.

There are old rumors that the guards at Lancaster are part of the KKK and in the past, there have been abuse issues. Some recent comments about Lake City talk about some of the kids being starved for two or three weeks.

I think Ted will be sent to Lake City. It is privately run. So if Ted writes about the conditions there, it won’t make the state-run prison system look bad.

  1. 'My Son was currently at Lancaster C.I.They say that those are rumors about Lancaster being part of he KKK.Some say if you check out the history you will find that some of the Offices wear key chains the have a set of balls on them. These balls are known as called "monkey balls."The Officers with these on are part of the Klan(gang)Lancaster talks about how many problems they have with the gangs , but the Skin Heads are the ones who actually are top on the list for working with the Officers helping them run things on the compound. My son is white but is not into the gang activities, fighting and all the stupid crap that goes on to get caught up and get into stupid S*** Unfortunately if you are not in the click then you need to be eliminated from the area. You become a RISK to the Officers if you know to much and know that the Officers are not doing their jobs the way they should be by the Chapter 33's and the Policy and Procedures of the Florida Department of Corrections. My son was abused by staff at Lancaster along with several other youths. Most of the youth do not have family or an Advocate to speak up for them so they are afraid to speak out on their own in the result of retaliation and being beaten.Due to my son telling me what all that they had done to him and others I contacted the Institution and the Inspector Generals Office.Needless to say my son had been placed into Confinement under Protection due to staff abuse but it continued verbally while he was in Confinement, finally he could not take it anymore and declared a Physiological emergency and three days later he was transferred out to another Institution by the Physic Specialist. She told him that this happens to often and she needed him transferred out. This makes no since, these Youthful Offenders are to be rehabilitated not slapped around and treated like animals, this is only making them worse. All State Correctional Institution whether it be an Adult or Youthful Offender Camp all follow but the State of Florida Department of Corrections Policies and Procedures and Chapter 33's.I guess I should be saying they are supposed to follow these rules. But I see first hand that they DO NOT...... Lancaster has the nick name "Klan-caster"..The Gladiator camp.
